South Jeffco Sports Association (SJSA) provides youth softball for female athletes living in the Chatfield, Columbine, and Dakota Ridge High School areas. SJSA is a part of the Girls Softball League of Jefferson County (GSLJC). League games are played against other areas including Alameda, Arvada, Bear Creek, Golden, Lakewood, West Jefferson and Wheat Ridge. Presently South Jeffco is fielding approximately 22 teams and over 250 girls are in the program.
The new Girls Softball season will soon be upon us. The South Jeffco Rec program will field teams in 9 age groups, which are T-ball (5-7 year olds), Coach Pitch (8 year olds), league: 9,10,11,12,13-14,15-16,17+; with teams playing at different division levels. The divisions are evaluated each year to balance the level of play across the division. The recreational leagues only play on week nights, with the exception of one (optional) league tournament played on a weekend. Some recreational teams participate in weekend tournaments outside of the GSLJC.
Registration for Girls Softball Rec. program will begin January 1 and continue thru February 20. Any registrations received after February 20 will require the late fee for players to be placed on a team, new or existing.
The timeline of events for the softball season includes practice starting the 3rd week of April, games beginning the 3rd week of May and continuing thru the end of July. Games are played throughout the county Monday thru Friday.
